Update on the Moxie

I missed posting a blog post on Sunday. But I was able to get through all the amazing comments I’d received over the past few days. I’m always amazed and warmed by the comments of my readers. These comments have become a sort of fuel for me. I always want to take the time to respond and soak in the wisdom that is shared.

I encourage my commenters to click the little box that automagically sends you an email when I respond to the comment you left for me … and for others to read. Oh yeah…. it may not alway be about me LOL.

It was a fun filled weekend. Well at least a My Tiny Tank fun filled weekend. I guess fun is all relative.

Of course Friday was the Whistlers birthday.

I also had the pleasure of reading in the Whistlers classroom for Dr. Seuss’ Birthday celebration.  It’s something that is celebrated across the country.  I surprised him by arranging to be the reader in his classroom.  He WAS surprised.

Here’s a picture of yours truly reading to the class.

I choose to read Green Eggs and Ham.  It was a Whistler favorite for a long time.  He is in the forefront of the picture in the while shirt.  Good thing he was paying attention!

The class enjoyed the story and there was even one student who had never read that book.  At the end I talked about how persistant Sam was in the story.  He was respectful but persistant.  In the end Sam was sincerely happy that his friend like the green eggs and ham.

One boy suggested that perhaps someone else had once convinced Sam how good green eggs and ham were.

Hmmmmmm

How insightful for a third grader.

Makes me think that positive persistence can not only effect change in your life but also in others.

Later that day I took four nine year old boys out for ice cream!!  Yikes!  That was an experience   They were able to order anything they wanted and it was delightful.  I enjoyed every loud, action packed moment.  In fact they were very well behaved especially after I filled them with sugar.  They ate gobs of ice cream.

We had a great family party Friday night!

Saturday we made Sauerkraut as a family.  My husband is super healthy and has been wanting to make sauerkraut.  As a ferment vegetable it introduces good bacterias into your digestive system.  And it tastes good too.

Here are the boys figuring out the math of the recipe.

Me, I  was the chopper!!

I chopped more cabbage then you can imagine.

Four weeks and we will have that crock filled with fermented slaw!!  Sauerkraut!!

My Mom came to visit us Sunday night and will stay a few nights.  I always love when she is in my house.

See the comments on 45 Minutes is too Long for an update on my doctor visit.   I made an update in the comments on the outcome of my doctor event Friday afternoon.

I saw my primary care doctor for my annual physical.  I will have my blood work done this week and in fact see my hematologist the following week.

So maybe a post about blood work and vitamins is in my future.  I’m due to update my vitamin regime page. More to come on that.

I have an exciting update to make soon…. one of my favorite favorite places has reached out to me and wants to sponsor the March Monthly Raffle.  I was tickled pink and as soon as we work out the details I’ll let you all know.

Please consider leaving me a comment. You know I love to hear from you! Do you see you PCP yearly? What is your vitamin regime?

Once you leave a comment you may be eligible for my monthly raffle.

I just had my yearly physical this past Wed. At 5 mo out, my doc was thrilled with the progress I have made since being sleeved. It was an awesome moment and a postive moment to hear the doc say she was proud of me.
My labs have all been coming back a-okay. I am thankful.

    Sticking with the 2 multi’s a day, 2000k of calcium, B12 and D3.

My goal this month is to eat more “normal”…as in having a few food groups at a meal so it is less like snacking. Learning that despite the tiny tank every meal does not need to look like a snack – it just needs to be “smaller than the average bear”

Digging your saurkraut making. My fav fermented veggie is Kimchi. Nice and spicy. YUM

I’m glad the whistler had a great birthday.i also once a months read to my sons 2nd grade class. I feel like a queen for the day when I go in front if all these bright eyed children waiting so patiently to see what book is coming out of my bag this month. I am one year on the 19 and did bloodwork even though my surgeon said wasn’t necessary. Glad I did it. I am anemic and have to get my thyroid rechecked on Wednesday.

I love that Whistler has red hair (least it appears to be in pic’s) I myself am a “Ginger” as a matter fact my older sister and brother both have red hair as well. No my parents neither one was a “Ginger”. He is a rare breed and should be very proud of that. I’m sure he will be one day if he isn’t already.
Oh I do love Sauerkraut!! Maybe not for weeks lol.
I do go see my pcp…I’m of that age that I need my hormone pills and she won’t refill unless I go. Gotta love the control they have over us. Also have my yearly mammogram scheduled this month.
