The Climb Was Worth The Ride
We had snow this week! And Santa brought sleds this year so you know what that means…. SLEDDING. We got out early today and hit this HUGE hill in town. You must see the panoramic picture I took of the view from the top. You won’t believe the beauty. I was in awe when I got to the top of the hill. When we were packing up this morning I wasn’t quite sure if I was going to sled or not. I did dress appropriately but was kinda feeling like I would be the “holder of things” and maybe pass on sledding. Well guess who was at the head of the pack?!
Here’s the hill. That’s Ran in the center with the orange sled.

Something happened to me when we parked at the bottom on the hill. I was inspired. I thought I’m going to hike that hill as many times as I can. It will be my work out for the day. I was determined. I still wasn’t sold on the sledding part. But after the first hike up I felt deserving of the ride. And boy was it fun! We hiked that hill 6 times. It was a great workout and the ride down was refreshing and FUN!! I was like a kid. And it was me wanting the “one last ride down!” I dragged the boys up for one more ride! This was not a small hill as you can see in the picture above. And I was the energizer bunny.
We’ve been sledding here before and today the conditions were not perfect since we only had about 4 inches on the ground. This mean the grass was still peeking through to slow down the sleds. The were patches of ice and those were FAST.
I felt like a kid. It was a little scary when you got flying down the hill and I was always thinking… “ok Tracy don’t break anything” But it was also very freeing. My body was not a limitation.
This is me after a ride. I was exhilarated! And child like.

Here are my boys. They look great and allowed me to take this picture!

I was thinking about the whole sledding event today. I was thinking we shouldn’t limit ourselves. Sometimes we think “oh I can’t do that.” And of course there are things we shouldn’t do because of true limitations. But most of the time we limit ourselves. I shut down that voice in my head and I “went for it.” It was the best thing I did today. One of the funnest things I’ve done in a long while. And I’ll be back for more, when we get more white stuff!!
Happy New Year to everyone. Have a fun a safe night. Keep in mind it’s not about the food it’s about the event and the people you are sharing it with. Enjoy!

I once hurt myself tubing and had to see my doctor. He told me that I wasn’t young anymore and to leave the sledding/tubing to the kids. Poopoo on him!! Yes, I am more careful, but I’m still out there being young at heart!! Yah for you!!
PS-my doctor told me this when I was 35..needless to say, I found a new doctor!
