Note to Self:  Listen closely to your tiny tank.  Slow down.  Yeah I could also add, chew, chew, chew.  These are both things we’ve been told over and over again.  But even the seasoned post op weight loss surgery patients trip up.  That was me tonight.  Here’s the story and I’m sure you’ve heard it all before.  It was a main dish I’m usually cautious around anyways. I had even posted that I was making this today.

yeah yeah, It’s the only way I can eat chicken.  BUT I took that one more bit and perhaps did not chew like I should have.  It all kind of fell apart from there.  So when I confidently comment on your Facebook statuses and give advice, remember I’m just like you… I forget and eat too fast.  I eat things I shouldn’t.  I take that one bite too much.

UGHHHH!

We’re all in this together.  So tonight, no profound blog post.  Just a girl who didn’t listen to her tiny tank and ended up dealing with it.  Even my husband said why do you always do this to yourself.

I did what I needed to and took some Papaya enzymes.

Feeling a bit better.

End of story.

It’s oddly comforting to know that at the end of the day, 5 months past surgery or years down the road, we are all human – and indeed, all in this together. :)

Hi Wendy. Thanks for staying that. It helps me to put it out there. And the funny thing is “I read my own blog posts as therapy” LOL. I know how geeky but it helps me to look back at what I said or how I felt. I so appreciate your comments. And love hearing from you.

Yes, why DO we do it to ourselves? I am 7 yrs out and still find eating too fast, or too big of a bite, or not chewing thoroughly (to mush) will leave me miserable. I remain miserable until it all comes back up (yes, all of my meal, not just the last bite). I should learn.

Hi Kelly since you opened us all up for TMI… I typically sit miserable for a while hoping it will digest. But I know it won’t. Then I quietly excuse myself for a prayer at the porcelain throne. It always helps. For me it’s not everything. Just the last bite or so. I’ve recently then started using papaya enzymes to help digest the rest. They so help. A Lapland post op taught me that. Thanks for opening the portal to TMI. It helps others to know they are not alone. I wasn’t brave enough on my own to give all the details. But I feel much better now. :)

One of my problems, is eating to fast. Even if you do chew chew chew….if you eat to fast your brain doesn’t have time to say “stop”. I constantly have to remind myself to stop and slow down. Hope you are feeling better.

I am the same way! I also eat as if someone is going to take it from me. Slow and steady wins the race.

You got it Cassie. Slower eating would benefit me. I need to get back to focusing on that!!!

Hi Robin. I think you are right. I think I eat too fast too. I need to slow down especially at dinner. Thanks for inspiring me.

I love your honesty. Sometimes we forget that even the veterans of weight loss still struggle like us newbies. You’re an inspiration regardless.

Hi Cassie. Yup we veterans trip up too. Just making it all work one day at a time. There is no finish line. It’s a lifestyle change.

I am so guilty of this!!! I still eat too fast most of the time and that causes the whole I ate too much!! So glad I’m not alone in that!!

Hi Sonja. Eating slow is an art I’ve decided. Something we need to practice practice practice before we get it right.
