Get it Together in 6 Weeks

Written by my tiny tank on . Posted in Chronicles, Goals, Losing Regain, Maintenance, Running

In 6 weeks I will be 47 years old.  I will also be running a 5K.  It is how I want to spend my birthday.  I find this really strange.  But wonderfully strange.  How is it even possible that I could be excited about running 3.125 miles while someone times me.  It’s mostly because I now know how a good run makes me feel.

never give up Get it Together in 6 Weeks

Over the past year I’ve trained myself to be able to easily run 3 miles in just over 30 minutes.  It’s something I would not of thought possible.  There’s power in the fact that I did this.

I was thinking today that I want to remind myself of this power.  It’s power that I produced and I want to transition that type of power to my next goal which is to get my weight down, over the hump!  Into the 180′s.

So today I sit here contemplating this challenge.  I tackled this running challenge more than a year ago.

I want to channel that power to accomplish this weight goal challenge.

I have 6 weeks.  I’ll be training for the race.  And I want to get the scale into the 180′s.

That is my challenge.

My plan is to keep my training simple and my food simple.

But both will be measured and routine.

March 2nd through April 13th

One thing I’ve learned in my years of maintenance is it’s all about the process.  A consistent process is what makes things change.

If you stick with it, it will work.

You must never give up.  Ever.

Please consider leaving me a comment. What makes you stick with a goal?  Is it limitation?  Is it the prize at the end?  How do you stay with it to the end? How do you keep motivated? I’d like to know.

I have a bad back, so running is out of the question for me. However, I use it as an excuse to not exercise. I need to get motivated to move my butt, even if it is a modified movement. I’m going to be 47 on May 13th. I really want to get to my goal of 130 lbs. I’m at 165 lbs now. That means I need to lose 35 lbs. I have a little more than 10 weeks til my birthday. Which means I will need to lose 3.5 pounds a week to make my goal. Not sure if that s attainable, but that’s what I’m going for. I will look at my weight loss in 5 weeks. If I’m giving 100%, and not losing as fast as I’d like, I will adjust my goal then.
    Wishing you an awesome 5k!!

Hi Tracy. Good luck with the run!!! YOU CAN DO IT!!! I’d love to know how you trained to run…..I’d love to get into running but my ankles/knees and shins hurt so bad after I try little sprints on the treadmill that I am literally crippled for a few days after. Please share your training regimen with me :)

Hi Michelle, If I run too much then my body hurts. I’ve found if I run only every other day then I am good. I monitor myself very carefully I am super sensitive about getting injured. I’m no spring chicken. So having a break day is a must for me. I started very slowly. I used the Couch to 5K program. it took me a good year to get comfortable running three miles at once. Running is not for everyone. I like running it makes me feel free and it is alone time for me. I suggest taking it very slowly
