Calmness and the Art of Mindful Eating
Quick Update
So I don’t have much left in me tonight and many nights I already have a blog post in the works but tonight I don’t. So I can’t pull anything out of my hat. I’ve been working on some “other things” related to my blogs. But I asure you that it is worth my distraction.
Last night you saw that I cross posted to my TracyStevenson.net blog.
Your Smiling Faces
Tonight I have a different kind of post. I decided to write about technology. Yes, I am a techie and there is something I have been wanting to share with you. I want to see your faces when you leave me comments. I know, sounds controlling, maybe a little weird. But it’s actaully quite simple and something anyone can do. Will you do it for me?
Not a Spammer
The last thing I want to be is a spammer. I write pretty much everyday and you may be receiving an email from me every time I blog. How often would you like to receive email blog posts from me? Did you know you have an option! Maybe you’d rather receive a weekly recap of my blog posts. Then you can read them Saturday morning with your
Mason Jar Heaven
Funny thing happened one day on Pinterest… I must admit I am not a social media lover. Some of you may be surprised by this. Well I’ve always loved Twitter. It’s easy and can be local or global and if there is any thing you want to know that is going on you can immediately find it on Twitter. Facebook has been a love hate relationship

What I Eat Book
Just a quick blog tonight. You may recall me blogging about this book once before. My boys gave it to me for my birthday this year after our visit to the Boston Museum of Science earlier that month. We had seen an exhibit centered around the book. It was one of the most interesting food culture like presentations I had ever seen. All three of use were riveted by the content.
Do you know the low blood sugar panic feeling?
Fit Frappe Giveaway
Big Train has come through again with some Fit Frappe goodies!!
I’m so excited to share these great protein products with you.
My Lips are Chilly
It’s that’s time of year again! The air is changing. It is actually my favorite time of year. But with the chill come chapped lips. Since my weight loss surgery I have been more active all year round. A couple of years ago Santa brought me snow shoes and I was delighted to get out and use them. That same year, my first fall hike of the year, I’m not sure what happened but my lips got destroyed.
Bacon
Each Sunday at our house is “Bacon Sunday.” We started this tradition not long after I learned this trick for making bacon. Because it is so easy, we now have bacon once a week. It comes out as crispy as you want it with very little mess or clean up. It is slow cooked which prevents and spatter in your oven. If you like a crispy bacon you can just cook it a little longer until you reach crisp perfection.
Hard Boiled Egg
The Hard Boiled Egg is one of the protein staples of my diet. Although boiling an egg may seem an easy pursuit, it is one that I have been trying to master for many years. Here is my best approach that produces delicious eggs which fill my tiny tank’s firm protein needs. Don’t underestimate the value of a hard boiled egg. It is one of my great go to foods and stores in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. Have them cooked and ready to go!
Chocolate Banana Smoothie
Many mornings I share this smoothie with my son. It is VERY kid friendly.

My Go To Foods
From the very beginning I’ve had certain foods that worked for me and others that didn’t. That is not unusual for almost every weight lost surgery patient I have met. I am happy to say these foods have changed over the years. I was just thinking the other day while I was cutting up an apple that for almost the first 4 years after weight lost surgery I could not even think of eating an apple. I loved apples and I was missing them tremendously. I had tried but the fiber was way too much for me and it was very painful to digest. Today I can eat an apple. Sometimes the entire apple skin and all. It is a food I savor and eat slowly. I am thankful for apples.
Salsa Chicken
This is a simple recipe that has taken me through the years. Chicken has always been a protein which was difficult for me to eat. With this recipe I have found a way to enjoy chicken after weight loss surgery. It also is one of the simplest recipes and can drive tons of meal ideas like tacos, burritos, or just served over rice or noodles.
Smoothies for Weight Loss
This protein shake is by far the best way to get fast protein into your body. I wanted to write about my favorite smoothie, it is the best one I have created so far. If you’ve ever had the Starbucks Chocolate Vivanno Smoothie, it rivals THAT! And I’m not kidding. I have tried many protein powders along the way. If you are looking to make smoothies for weight loss I think
