Breakfast Love

Written by my tiny tank on . Posted in Breakfasts, Chronicles, Dairy, Food, Quick Meals

Do you eat enough for breakfast?  Maybe you skip breakfast or only have coffee.  Eating breakfast is important for me.  Not eating breakfast is a guaranteed start to a bad eating day.  If I skip breakfast I typically eat way more at lunch and ALWAYS make choices that I wouldn’t if I wasn’t so hungry.  I’ve also learned that it is important for me to eat ENOUGH for breakfast.  Too few calories at breakfast can set me up for snacking before lunch. Ugh!

So I’ll be honest.  I don’t eat immediately upon rising.  I administer caffeine pretty soon after waking and if it is a weekday, I exercise.  Then I eat breakfast.  Let me share with you one of my favorite breakfast foods.  I call this Breakfast Love.

First I take a bag of frozen Blackberries.

This 10 oz bag of frozen blackberries will split up into three 8oz Ball Jars.

Let them thaw overnight in the refrigerator.  In the morning they will be thawed and ready to serve over greek yogurt.

In the morning you will have what I call Breakfast Love!
I eat full fat Fage Yogurt.  Having the fat holds me until Lunch.

I ALWAYS eat within 1-hour of rising. I usually have 4-oz. Greek yogurt with 2-oz. granola with dried cranberry a and almond slivers! Sundays I usually have 1-egg, 2-slices turkey bacon and 1/2 of 1/2 piece toasted flat bun.

Hi Dixie. I like your crunch in the yogurt. I’m going to have to try that and the almonds slivers. Yum. And cranberries. I like those in a salad. Thanks for your breakfast love!!

Hi Franna. I have never tried cottage cheese with fruit. I’ll have to. Someone once suggested cottage cheese and marinara sauce. Hmm not sure about that. And not for breakfast. Maybe lunch. Thanks for your comment.

For the first 10-11 months or so post-op, breakfast was always a protein shake. For some reason, the pouch just wouldn’t do solid food until mid-morning. Somehow in the last month, though, I’ve discovered I can eat again. Granted, I still have to “warm up” my pouch with some coffee, but I can now eat within an hour of getting up. Weekdays it is most often Greek yogurt with a 1/4 cup of granola or cottage cheese with a little fruit, sometimes oatmeal. Weekends when I have a little more time, I like being able to enjoy an egg & bacon again.

Hi Julia. I like to take my morning eating slow too. Many times I have tea early morning and my yogurt mid morning. I even have my fitness pal set up that way. My husband say I’m like a hobbit. I have first breakfast and then second breakfast. Lol.
