2013 Bring it On!

Written by my tiny tank on . Posted in Chronicles, Goals, Head Work, Rules

I promised that I would reveal my goals for 2013.  I’ve been reviewing last years goals.  Improving my exercise was my shining succes this year.  I am so proud of this.  My body is proof of the benefits of regular exercise.  And yes my pants are loose.  I love it.  Way to go Tracy.  I’ve made progress this year.  Here’s what I improved:

I’m loving myself more.  I now can look right in the mirror no matter how I look and say, “gee you look good!”  I did this by taking pictures of myself  A LOT.  My blog logo now displays ME.  And I’m ok with it.  I’m proud of me.  My husband suggested taking pictures this year of me every month in the same outfit and full lengthen postion.  This is a little scary for me.  He’s right and I’m loving that he wants to help me with this.  More to come on this.

I’m putting myself first more and more now.  I know that my needs are just as important if not more important than others.  I realize that if I am not happy or healthy there is no way I can care for my boys or run my household.  This is a hard goal for Moms and wives everywhere to overcome.  But I am here to tell you.  If you are a people pleaser, a care giver;  YOU MUST HELP YOURSELF FIRST.  Or you are no good to anyone for very long.

I’ve really nailed the exercise routine.  Monday, Wednesday  Friday I RUN!  And Tuesday, Thursday I move my body in another way whether it is yoga, stair master,  walking.  I rocked a 5K this year.  And it not only was a 5K it was on trails!!  It was grueling and I LOVED it.  It inspired my son and husband to also start running.  Now that make me feel amazing.  I’ve got plans for more runs in 2013.

One of my goals from last year needs some attention….. Let’s talk about that one why don’t we.

Battling the weekend Fat Girl was kind of a wash this year.  What I think I overlooked was that the weight loss surgery rules need to be followed everyday.  So hence my #1 goal below.  #1 will be my focus.  I know for sure if I follow the rules the regain will reduce.

I’m going to LOVE MY TINY TANK!!

Hence my Limited -Edition T-shirt!  I made it for myself.  I’m going to wear it, when I work out, when I lounge around the house, when I work at home, when I sleep!  It will remind me that it is my tiny tank that I have to be thankful for and that it is the TOOL which will help me reduce my regain and continue to maintain my amazing weight loss.

I’m going to give some of the T-Shirts away!  I’m going to buy a few for my friends.  I’m going to give one to my Mom and Mother-in-law.  Please buy some shirts for yourself and maybe a friend who is rocking their tiny tank!!  I need to sell 50 of them by January 19th to get them made!!

So with real fan fair here are my goals for 2013

1.  Reduce my regain by following the weight loss surgery rules aka honoring My Tiny Tank:

How will I accomplish this:

1. Reestablish my commitment to the weight loss surgery rules:  protein first, no more than one cup of food at a meal, no grazing, drink 64 oz of fluids a day, exercise, no drinking during meals, take my vitamins. It means living as if I just had weight loss surgery again.  Get in the mind set and be strict like I was after surgery.  Eliminate processed carbs from my diet and eat a wholefoods based lifestyle.

Possible Obstacles: Head hunger caused by carbohydrate consumption.  Not thinking like a weight loss surgery patient!

2. Ramp up my  exercise regime

Currently I am running three days a week for about 2 miles at each run.  I’d like to make my regular run a 3 mile run.  I can run a 5K but I want to be able to do this easily.  I also want to add variety to my week.  This way I can prevent injury.  My  plan is to exercise each weekday and than have open unplanned activity on the weekend.

How will I accomplish this:

1.  increase my running distance from 2 miles to 3 miles on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays

2.  add yoga on Tuesdays.  I can either take a class in town or use a DVD at home.  Yoga will help with the stretching I drastically need.  Also prevent injuries.

3.  Thursday will be an open gym day for either elliptical, stair master, stationary bike or rowing machine at my work office.

I have a milestone goal to run a 5K in the Spring with my husband and to run the Gabe’s Run again in November 2013.

What are some possible obstacles: Injury, Sickness, otherwise there is no other reason why I can meet this goal

3. Bring my Faith into all aspects of my life
How will I accomplish this:  By asking God to come into my heart.  By asking God when I need help at times of need.  By loving others unconditionally and having tolerance for everyone I meet.

What are some possible obstacles:  Not taking the time to read the gospel.

5. Start meeting with friends and family in face to face situations
How will I accomplish this:

1.  By hosting a monthly game night for my friends.

2.  By prioritizing spending time with family.  We will include them in weekend activities and meals.

Possible Obstacles: Feeling pressured to meet others needs.

6.  Open up about my personal Blogging to friends and family

How will I accomplish this:  Well by sharing and sharing and sharing.  I will need to just come out of the closet and ask them to subscribe to my blog posts.  I’ll have to invite them to be friends on Facebook.  Right now I have a mere 4 friends on Facebook that are NOT weight loss surgery friends.  Yeah.  I’m going to open up my weight loss surgery world.  I know my blog reach will increase by doing this AND I know by being honest and open in all aspects of my life it will lift me up to where I want to be.

Possible Obstacles:  Fear.  Fear of being judged by my family.  Concern that friends and family will not understand what I am talking about in my blog posts.  That they may judge me.  Isn’t it funny that I feel more fear of my friends and family of judging my struggles than I do of many people I haven’t even met in person but that I feel closer to since we share a similar battle.

I completely understand that this goal will not be overcome in one year.  But I do know it is the stepping stone to some VERY CRITICAL HEADWORK!  Bring it on!

Well time to absorb.  Goals aren’t just about January 1.  I review them through out the year and I check in on the obstacles and how and if I need to tweak things.  Am I on target?  Off track?

Are you making resolutions?  Identifying goals?  Are you writing them down?  Have you been successful in the past with resolutions?

Great goals…so similar to all of mine. Beating the carb monster and getting rid of those cravings is the hardest part for me right now. I also have to get my rear in gear with the exercise. So proud of you for sticking to your goal last year and upping it this year. You can do it. Look out 2013!! :-)

Hi Robin. Thanks for sharing. I’m trying to find those carbs I can tolerate without setting off the carb attack. Need some but want to be safe. Stay tuned! :)
