A Time for Routine and Not

Written by my tiny tank on . Posted in Chronicles, Love Thyself

I’ve been working from home all this week. Husband on vacation and my Lark has no school. So needless to say the routine is out the window. In some ways this sends me into a tail spin. I am a woman of routine. And in many ways my routine-ness has been one of the reasons for my weight loss maintenance. If there is one thing I have learned in the last 11 years it is “stick to basics and to your routine.”

This week my routine has been out the window….

Sweet Sunday

Written by my tiny tank on . Posted in Chronicles, Food

We had a very relaxing Sunday.  We puttered about the house.  Of course started the day with a yummy breakfast and if you know the Tiny Tank residence we serve BACON on Sundays!!  Many of you have asked what type of bacon I use and so I snapped a picture this day.  I am a Niman Ranch lover.  Great products and we love their Applewood Smoked bacon.

must have bowls New Small Bowls

They are 6 1/2 ounces Libbey Bowls which means it is a comfortable 1/2 cup serving with out spilling over. I like a 1/2 cup bowl because it helps me to portion out my protein. Since these have a cover I’m going to use them for bring things in my lunch like my cottage cheese. Portion control is key for me. These will help.

Colder Weather Makes Me Want to Make Soup

leftover soup Colder Weather Makes Me Want to Make Soup
Yesterday I was puttering around the kitchen after breakfast; cleaning out my refrigerator a bit. There were lots of leftovers and all of a sudden the leftover ingredients looked like a good soup! I wasn’t sure if it was the type of thing the boys would like. But I whipped it up and served it for Sunday lunch along with the Slow Cooked Flank Steak that I made. I was amazed to get raves on the SOUP! …

Bacon and a Run

IMG 5449 225x300 Bacon and a RunIt’s Sunday morning and that means Bacon Sunday at my house.  But I must tell you another habit has come about. My baked bacon takes about 30 minutes and that is how long I currently run. So I have a little routine going. Huh!? Routine and exercise in the same breath. Ok I’m going to go with it.  The routine is looking something like this: I suit up, ie running ware and shoes, I setup the bacon in the oven and I run!!!! It’s that simple. By the time I finish my run the bacon smell is glorious and is ready to come out of the oven…

Christmas Time Fun

elf and pancakes 300x225 Christmas Time FunSo we have been busy at the Tiny Tank residence.  Christmas activities abound!  Pip Squeak our Elf has been coming and going each night.  The excitement around that is big.  Very fun.  If you aren’t familiar with the ELF tradition I’ve linked it here for your edification.  HA!If you are a parent or grandparent looking for a fun tradition, this is great!

You can see him in the the back left corner of this picture.  He is a little creepy but does have a smile on his face!  I like that.  My Lark is delighted about him and races to find him every morning.  We are lucky to have a friend who sent us our Elf last year.

Tree is Up!

Written by my tiny tank on . Posted in Chronicles

If you’ve been following me you know I started a remodel of my family/living room just before thanksgiving. Maybe not so smart. It was complete before thanksgiving but still stinky from paint. But today we cleaned it all up and set up the Christmas tree!!! We usually set everything up day after thanksgiving but because of the fumes we waited. We are back on track now…
